Here are Priory Motorhomes’ top 10 UK destinations for 2013. They don’t cost the earth and after the snow we have seen this could be just the tonic you need to beat those winter blues!
In no particular order:
1. The Lake District
England’s largest National park, you can drive through lush green dales, visit the vibrant villages or quiet hamlets or take a boat trip across one of the many lakes, including Lake Windermere and Coniston. Fantastic for active families/couples looking for outdoor adventure at their feet.
2. The Cotswolds
Travel down the winding lanes, enjoy browsing along the ancient streets and looking in the tasty Deli shops. Visit Chipping Campden and Painswick for the local walks or exploring the town.
3. The Peak District
Roam around the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, see the caverns and enjoy lunch in the many quaint little pubs on the moors. This is a relaxing getaway for families or couples.
4. Blackpool and Fylde Coast.
Great fun for all the family – winter or summer. Enjoy the golden mile with its shops, amusements and restaurants. The Pleasure beach and the Sea Life centre are great for kids and you can be assured you won’t be bored!
5. Devon and Cornwall.
The south of England offers spectacular scenery, sweeping moors, colourful countryside, clean beaches and charming coastal towns. From North Devon to the South coast, the whole of this area is within easy reach when you are behind the wheel of your motorhome.
6. The Norfolk Broads
See the waterways of this part of Britain, enjoy a lazy lunch by the side of the river and explore the coastal towns of Cromer (famous for its crab), Sherringham and Great Yarmouth with excellent beaches.
7. Wales
Green valleys, quiet beaches – all you will need for a great family break. Enjoy the great coastal areas famous for their lobster and take a trip across the bridge to Anglesey. What better way to see Wales than by bringing your own accommodation along with you. Enjoy the great outdoors and explore Wales more easily. Some of the most beautiful scenery can literally be on your door stop.
8. The Isle of Wight.
There are some great deals to be grabbed on the ferry and taking your motorhome to the Isle of Wight can be a great adventure. Visit the stunning marina at Cowes and the quaint coastal town of Ventnor.
9. Kent
The garden of England waits. Take a trip around the fantastic countryside, villages hidden away and immersed in history and the great coastal towns of Hastings and Margate. Visit Canterbury and see the imposing cathedral or visit the 2nd world war tunnels and look-outs at the white cliffs in Dover.
10. Northumberland.
Harry Potter country! Take the kids to see Alnwick castle where Harry Potter was filmed. Enjoy the long sweeping beaches, windswept countryside and of course sample the famous kippers from Craster.
